Yesterday, I worked on the cover for Bridging the Gap Vol. 4, a mixtape series by my homey and official IdeallClothing sponsored, DJ Wristpect. The cover concepts I came up with were all very strong, but I went with my gut and did a Fully Wholly character for it since I’ve been the most excited about my Fully Wholly projects above all things I’ve been doing lately.

This isn’t the cover, but I wanted to share the Wholly with you guys. His name is “VATO”. lol.

What’s a Wholly?

A “Wholly” is a stylized character who is composed of a base or shell that generally has 4 holes in it. Those 4 holes provide me with endless possibilities to solving graphic problems. I use the base or shell as a canvas to create the character, and the holes to act as ports to extensions of the character.

red cliff

i was fortunate enough to see a prescreening last night of john woo's return film, red cliff or "chi bi". i walked in thinking tht it wld be an "okay" film and walked away amazed. it's a definite must see. red cliff is the most expensive asian financed film, whopping in at $80 million for production. the action, visuals, storyline and costumes are something to remember. like tht of "precious", i hear red cliff will be released only within select theatres on november 20th.



by the way, i now have a huge crush on takeshi kaneshiro, "zhuge liang" or "kong ming". time magazine has named him the johnny depp of asia. owwwwwww!

THE episode

this morning levi dropped another maestro knows episode. the jonathan mannion episode definitely caught me off guard. how amazing to see some of the most important shots of our generation captured within one studio and most importantly, shot by one man. we all have tht one celebrity tht has impacted our lives. . . mine is aaliyah. her life &death took such a toll on my heart tht it is forever embedded within me. to hear jonathan mannion speak about her pulled at my heart strings &honestly took me somewhere i ddn't want to go today. i immediately picked up my phone &thanked levi for an episode tht impacted me the most. if someone inspires you, tell them. there's nothing more rewarding.
